Kurt smiled happily, shopping always made him so happy. It was unfortunate that because of the Dalton uniform he didn't have reason to shop all the much anymore. He missed his retail therapy. Today, though he made time for it, Kurt had a horrible day. First he hadn't been able to go to sleep the night before and ended up sleeping through his alarm and his roommate trying to wake him. He awoke an 15 minutes after his first class started. In his rush to get to class, he ended up his shampoo in his eyes and toothpaste all on his jacket. When he finally did manage to get to class, Kurt realized that he had left all of his books and homework in his dorm.
Kurt had hoped after his rough morning that things would smooth out but rather they only got worse. During lunch Kurt had sat with the other Warblers, and at first everything was fine, until he ended up dumping his whole plate on his lap. It was bad enough that it happened in front of people but Blaine had to see it too. Kurt managed to stand gracefully and almost made it to his dorms to change clothes without anything else happening, but then of course he had to finish up his horrible lunch by running smack dab into a door. To top it all off he ended up not eating any lunch, not having enough time to change, and a huge bruise from where his face met the door. He was a complete mess during his afternoon classes.
Despite being a mess appearance wise, he nearly got through his afternoon without much happening. That is until he got caught day dreaming. The teacher called on him and asked him the square root of something, and Kurt's answer was Blaine. After his horrible, humiliating day Kurt was glad to be out Dalton, out of that horrible uniform. Kurt only wished he had one of his ladies there to talk too. He really needed to vent. Kurt sighed and gathered his three bags, he was just starting his trip, and made his way to a bench. Kurt sat down happily and ignored his rumbling stomach he still hadn't found time to eat...or even fix his hair. He brushed it back impatiently wishing that he had fixed it before he left Dalton.
His stomach growled again but ignored it in favor of getting out a mirror and a comb. He did his best to fix it up without any of his hair products, but eventually gave it up as a lost cause. "This is just not my day!" He said loudly.

Already it had become the second worst day of her life, nothing was going right. Her mom had caught her singing one of the songs for Glee club and became outraged. She didn’t want to have a daughter who was made fun of, what kind of role model would that be? The names went on and on, until finally after what seemed like a good thirty minutes she broke down and ran from the room. The entire way out she continued to wonder why Mia was acting like such a radical child who needed help. Mia just rolled her eyes not believing this one bit. Sure they had already argued about her joining the club, but she constantly found ways to poke herself in Mia’s business. The woman would stop at nothing until she quit. Knowing she didn’t need the extra drama, Mia put on her cheerleading outfit. It was one less thing for them to argue about, but she had guessed this whole fight stemmed from her dad the previous night. They had been yelling again, and now she was targeting Mia. She always made sure to badger Mia after every fight. In some weird way it helped her to deal with the stress. At least that’s the conclusion she had reached.
Mia didn’t really want to know if that was the truth or not. In the hallway she came face to face with her dad who only gave her a brief glance. She knew very well what it meant, he was angry at her for causing her mom to be upset and he didn’t support her joining the glee club, but there was nothing he could do about it . Needing to just get out of there she grabbed her dad’s keys and left. Mia skipped breakfast altogether and was soon on her way to school. Classes went by in a daze, and for the most part she passed every test given to her with flying colors. Homework was already turned in and she moved along with the rest of the students. When it was finally lunch she had decided on pasta, but it eventually ended up in her hair when tripping over her own shoes. Mia had changed from her cheerio outfit to normal clothes, but unfortunately she didn’t have any normal shoes to wear. Just her silver colored high heels.
They had become her latest enemy in a matter of seconds. Bits of pasta clung to her hair, and she spent the rest of the day trying to clean up. When school let out she was still feeling hungry and drove over to the mall. The entire time she was trying not to trip over her own two feet. She thought the day would only continue to go downhill until she spotted a familiar face. “You and me both.” She moved to sit down right next to Kurt. But she was beaming, and happy to see him. She really needed a friendly face today, and Kurt was the perfect person. All day she had skipped talking to anyone. “Hey stranger. What are you doing here? Especially on a nice day like this?” There was a hint of sarcasm added to the last few words.

Kurt managed a weak smile for Mia, he leaned over and rested his head on her shoulder. He blinked and pulled away when he noticed a noodle in her hair. He pulled it away and blinked back a smile, "I see I'm not the only one that had a bad day." He flung the bit of pasta away from them and put his head back on her shoulder. "You're pointy." He complained poking her in the side referring to her shoulder. Kurt was exhausted and his face hurt from where the door assaulted him. Shopping just wasn't working as well as it should. "Today sucks," he complained closing his eyes.
He rested his eyes a moment until he heard someone shout, fag. Kurt felt his eyes burn but he ignored it. One day they'll all work for me, he thought pushing away the hurt feeling in his chest. He just wanted to go home, real home and curl up in his basement. Where his dad could protect him from his terrible day. He close his eyes tighter and took a deep breath. "I skipped lunch, want to grab a bite to eat and exchange bad day?" He asked hopefully he needed someone to help take his mind off things. Kurt didn't wait for her answer he swept up his bags and headed off to the food court, he normally avoided it because of how unhealthy it was but today he figured that he earned a little junk food.
Kurt picked a booth at random and ordered the greasiest food he could find, a large bacon cheese burger and a chocolate milkshake he waited on Mai to order then picked out a table. He sat his stuff down and flopped into his chair biting moodily at his burger. He hated that some jerk had ruined his retail therapy. " I ran into a door." Kurt said unhappily, waving at his bruise, "why did you have food in your hair?" Kurt took another bite followed by a drink of his milkshake. He was really going to hate himself later, for eating and drinking this and he told Mia so. "Just another thing to add onto my terrible day." Kurt shifted in his seat and then groaned...he had sat in gum. He let his head hit the table. How much worse could things get?

Mia instinctively wrapped her arms around Kurt, she missed him a lot and wished that he was back at New Directions. He had a killer voice, and she would’ve loved to do a few duets with him every now and again. But she knew why he was at Dalton, he had been bullied and that made her angry. Whenever she saw the few members on the football team responsible she gave them a harsh glare. Most didn’t mess with the cheerios, they were intimidating and held key to popularity. If you were on their bad side it was a quick way to the bottom. Quinn and her coach had both taught her that at some point. She knew how the high school chain worked, unfortunately it wasn’t enough to keep Kurt safe. Mia didn’t want anyone hurting him, it would break her heart. But today she was just happy to see him. Leaning her own head against his, she looked up at ceiling listening to her friend. “You have seen correctly. Why can’t high school just be like it is in the movies? One of those twisted but lovely fairytales where everything is pie.” She let out a long sigh wishing that was her reality instead of this one.
“I am not pointy…but you can always use the bench. I’m sure that just screams comfort.” She produced a thin smile knowing she was just poking fun at Kurt. “You’re right…today does suck.” Then she crossed her arms hoping for some kind of miracle, she could only guess that Kurt was doing the same thing. Then hearing someone shout a terrible name, Mia looked up to see who it was. “Next one to say anything and I will personally punch you where it hurts!” Then she paused for a few seconds scanning the faces. But nobody else seemed to have another comment. “Not so tough are they?” Then she gave a small laugh and looked to Kurt. She knew it had hurt him, and she gave him another hug. “They aren’t worth it…and I’ve got your back no matter what.” Mia finally realized just how hungry she truly was and nodded. “You and me both….I’m wearing my lunch.”
As soon as Kurt stood up Mia got up and followed, her eyes darted around the mall as though expecting to run into someone else. Then shaking her head Mia caught up to her friend, only slowing once she was beside him. Not really knowing what to order, she matched what Kurt was getting. She didn’t care about the food, or what Sue would tell her the next day. That crazy woman could practically smell fast food on the cheerios. But it didn’t matter, picking up her food she slid into the booth and started to eat. Her mood had improved, but still she found that it was a miserable evening. “A door huh? …I tripped and fell on my face in these shoes.” She held her foot up. The silver high heel was wrapped around her ankle with small rhinestones. Her mom had picked these out after discovering her hidden converse. They had immediately been thrown away and now she was stuck in these. They were extremely nice but a death sentence to anyone who wore them.
“I hear you.” She continued to dig into her food wondering if it would give her food poisoning. Even so, it was worth it right now. Between the shake and the fries she felt like she was in some kind of food heaven. The moment Kurt sat in gum Mia held out a credit card without even blinking. “Scrape and it should come off without a mess, and you will save your pants.” She had been there so many times before and was thankful to even know such a handy trick.

Kurt took the card with out a word and excused himself to go scrape the gum off his butt. He ducked into a corner and managed to get it all off, luckily. Mia just saved him $150, she was a life-saver. Kurt made his way back to the table after picking the gun off the card he slid it across the table to his friend. "Thank you." He told her before taking another bite of his food. He could practically feel his thighs growing with every bite, "This food is terrible for me." He said not stopping his eating. Kurt slurped down more of his milkshake and ignored the person behind Mia shooting him a rude gesture, if he had to guess, that was the person that had shouted at him earlier. Today just really wasn't his day and it just seemed to keep getting worse.
Kurt frowned when he saw what type of shoes Mia was wearing. He paused before digging through his bag until he pulled out a pair of flip-flops. Designer of course. "Here it's an early Christmas present." Kurt was glad that he had relatively small feet. "They'll be more comfortable then those heels." Kurt loves as much as the next person but those things looked dangerous. Seriously, take out an eyes and pierce a vein dangerous.
He knew that by thinking about his day it was just going to seem to get worse but really what else was he going to focus on? His new school? His almost, not at all boyfriend? Mia? Kurt nodded Mia."So what have I missed back at McKinley, Mercedes claims to keep me caught up but I know she's leaving stuff out." Kurt said between bites. "How Glee going? Any new drama?" He asked eagerly to forget his own problems at, least for a few minutes. "What about you?" He asked getting into his girl talk mode, "How are things going with you, Mia?" His eye glinted as he continued. "Any guys catch your eye?" He was ridiculously eager to take his mind off things so he latched onto gossip as as a way to do so.
"We need to have a sleepover weekend. All the Mckinley girls a sleepover/spa weekend." Kurt said already making plans to have his ladies over to reconnect.

She took a few more bites knowing how much it would make her own mother just cringe at the sight of it all, perhaps she’d be worried about what the food was doing to her body. But the fact that it was all so good, and that it would torment her parents made it worth it. She set down her soda as Kurt left with her card, it seemed as though their days were just improving. Eventually it would catch up with her as well, Mia drummed her fingers against the table trying to remember if the car was running on empty. With her luck she could end up on the side of the road until one of her friends decided to pick her up. No, it was definitely full, actually remembered filling up the tank two days ago. Just as she cleared up that small worry Kurt returned, giving him a warm smile she took the car back. “Glad I could help. We have to stick together in a time of crisis.” After this she laughed feeling a lot better. And she was glad that Kurt had managed to save his pants, which she really liked. Kurt had style, while her mother just went for anything in. That wasn’t always the best way to go either. Her shoes were proof enough.
“You’re telling me.” Then she picked up her own shake, Mia had piled on a lot of items today. But she deserved it and so did Kurt. It was another way to spoil themselves and feel guilty later all at the same time. “Why do places like these have to have such good food that is terrible for your body? It’s so….so…” She put down her shake and looked up at the ceiling trying to think of a word. “I’ll settle for so terribly evil.” She picked up another fry and studied it for a moment before popping it into her mouth. “I mean look at all this junk we’re eating…but I can’t stop eating it now for the life of me. I think there is something seriously wrong with us.” Then her nose wrinkled as she smiled. Mia then moved to rub her sore ankles, she was almost positive that she had at least three near death experiences that day. “What are you doing?” She muttered right after Kurt began to dig around in one of the bags he had with him. But before she could say anymore, Kurt had pulled out a pair of flip flops.
“Kurt! You are a saint. Have I ever told you that?” The then worked at taking the high heels off. They were horribly trick and laced into small knots. Mia knew they had to be demon shoes that wanted to remain on her feet for a long time. Finally after working at them, she managed to pull them off. “That feels so much better.” Then she put her feet into the flip flops, “Kurt these are exceptionally cute, you have amazing taste.” Then she held up a single high heel, it was still brand new, if only it wasn’t lethal. “Hmmm…I know you love designing stuff and putting together neat accessories and clothes. So you can feel free to make these into something if you want them. Otherwise I’m afraid they will rot in my closet.” If anyone could make them work it was Kurt. If only she had that potential, but her creative side landed with music and photography.
Almost instantly a smile spread across her face, “you have missed out on a lot. You know there’s this new girl who might have a thing for Puck. It’s only a rumor…but at McKinley…well you know how it is.” She loved talking with Kurt about these kinds of things, he didn’t judge and even enjoyed the scandalous. “And of course you know Sam and Quinn are doing well, but they have their moments every now and then. Like Rachel and Finn moments.” Besides that, everything else in the New Directions had been pretty mellow. Then again Mercedes could’ve heard other rumors, but she was on the cheerios that usually meant new material. As soon as Kurt asked the question she turned a light shade of red, “Oh me…well…” She looked up from the booth checking to see if anyone from her school was around.
At the moment they were safe, “I ran into this guy once…his name was David. It was only for a split second…but he was so cute.” Then she looked down at her meal, “I mean I still have that same crush on Finn and Sam but I’d never pursue that.” Then she picked up her cheeseburger and started to work on that. “And then there’s this other guy…um…Chris. Yeah, he’s nice.”
It was so frustrating to run into so many nice and cool people, why did all schools have to have this many cute guys it was just unreal. Then she reached across the table and poked Kurt, “well…how about you? Anyone catch your eye? Cause if so you have to spill.” With a grin she leaned back in her seat and crossed her arms as though waiting for him to answer. “And that’s a wonderful idea. I can bring over a bunch of stuff that I never use from my house.”
