TELL ME THAT YOU'VE GOT EVERYTHING YOU WANT&& Y O U R B I R D C A N S I N GBUT YOU DON'T GET ME, YOU DON'T GET ME Glee club wouldn’t start for a couple more hours, and it gave time for Mia to think. She often liked to spend time in the classrooms that were empty, if she wasn’t out on the field watching the boys practice. Her palms pressed up against a counter as she looked out one of the long windows. Her reflection stared back at her with sad eyes. Down below she could see the parking lot and few students milling around outside. Some were dressed in red, and Mia knew they were cheerios. Some liked to stay in their outfit to show off their popularity, she had been like that at one point in time. But now she was just some empty shell. It was better to pretend and be someone she hated, then to be lost in the crowd. She had her friends a life most would kill to have, but it wasn’t the one she wanted. Mia wanted to be happy for once, to feel as though she belonged somewhere. It was nice to break out of the group lately. She was bonding with Quinn and few others, but it still made her question their friendship.
She didn’t want her life to be that way, always afraid to let anyone in. That reminded her of earlier this morning; her dad had accidentally made a call on her phone. There were things on the other end she didn’t even want to hear. Hanging up she had excused herself from the room, and ran down the hallway and outside on the pavement. Now she found herself standing in this room. It all felt surreal to her, she glanced down at her guitar. A gift from her dad to keep her quiet, and while she loved it, Mia felt as though it was nothing but a lie. She didn’t want to look at it, or even try to play. She tapped her fingers and looked around, the door was closed and she was all alone. This was a good thing, for Mia knew she just needed to sing and get this out of her system. It always seemed to help when she wanted to scream at the world. Outside the sky was no longer a pale blue, it had slowly been turning gray since this morning.
They were supposed to have rain coming in, which didn’t happen often but Mia all but welcomed it. Her mood seemed to match the clouds. She had a storm growing in her all this time. “What am I supposed to do now?” She looked down at the guitar in disgust and leaned forward. Mia started to hum until she came across as song, at first she was quiet but the song grew louder. “I sit alone…in a dark theater watching the people go by…hand in hand everybody but me…” [/color]The sound drifted out past the door. She really did have a good voice and Mia could get if her mom could sing she would sound amazing. Or maybe her dad was the one who could sing. She didn’t want to be like him though, it made her angry just thinking about it. “I stay behind watching the credits roll by…roll roll roll right by me…I know I won’t cry because there is somebody waiting for me…out in the rain.” Already she had become lost in the song.
It was in moments like these that Mia wasn’t sure why she was so nervous to sing in the first place. But it was far more difficult to start a song than it was to end it. But right now all she cared about was how the song made her feel, it seemed to fit what was going on in her life. “Won’t cry, not tonight. Cause there is somebody waiting for me.” If only there really as somebody else, maybe a new family. Anything to make things okay again would be just fine by her.

The English professor had decided upon giving them independent reading for the class period. After discussing the importance of Edgar Allan Poe's legacy in American Literature, he gave a hand out to each student depicting a particular poem. Brittany, not particularly literate, concentrated upon the words without success in determining what it meant. The poem, in her opinion, was laced with nonsense and she couldn't grasp the significance of it. She knew her professor would be disappointed again, and she knew he would call on her again. He consistently questioned her on everything they completed because he believed by challenging her she would succeed and try harder. Personally, it made her less likely to understand the subject of literature, and she lost confidence each time she had to mumble the words "I don't know." He would shake his head in disappointment, and continue onto the next student. She bit her lip discouragingly, and ran a hand through her hair. She had decided to leave her blonde hair down today, avoiding the disaster known as Coach Sylvester considering her particular rules about uniform.
Her incandescent blue eyes glanced up at the clock, and sighed when she realized that there was still approximately twenty minutes left in the class. She began to silently scheme about how to get out of the rest of the lesson, and was hoping that whatever she happened to come up with would work. Thankfully, instead of creating a crazy distraction, she simply rose her hand and stated "Could I go to the bathroom?" The professor glanced at her, back at the clock, and then back at her before deciding upon letting her go. With joy, she gathered up her things and rushed out of the classroom, missing the glare her professor gave upon her own dismissal. She didn't think about the fact that by taking her things with her, she gave away what she truly wanted to do. But, consistently absent-minded, Brittany continued her pace down the hallway with warm smile on her face, happy to be away from poetry. She fixed her red skirt, it always twisting up whenever she sat, and grasped for her cell phone. Before texting several friends about their current statuses, she was stopped by the sound of a beautiful voice, muffled by a closed door. She walked over and glanced into the window, noticing a new Cheerio member she hadn't truly talked to yet. The girl looked depressed, and Brittany frowned at the realization. She grasped the door handle, careful not to disturb the current production of a beautiful song, and pushed it forward. Thankfully, the door did not give away her position and she shuffled into the room. The girl, whom she recalled as Mia, seemed to putting all of her emotions into the song. She felt rude to interrupt, but she worried about her current state. "You have a great voice, I really like the song. Although, I've never heard it before. Although, maybe I have. I'm not sure." She realized that she had babbled quite a bit, and laughed embarrassingly at herself. "I'm so sorry, I'm being rude. It's just you looked sad, and when I see sad people I get sad as well. It reminds me of a sad puppy..or something?"

TELL ME THAT YOU'VE GOT EVERYTHING YOU WANT&& Y O U R B I R D C A N S I N GBUT YOU DON'T GET ME, YOU DON'T GET ME There a pause and Mia looked down at the countertop; her fingers traced shapes along the surface. She just didn’t have the heart to finish, maybe she truly didn’t believe in what she was singing. So often they were told to sing with emotion, or from something that truly inspired them. But the more she continued, the more it sounded hollow. She wasn’t in any way or form like Rachel. Now that was a girl who could find any song and just become a part of it, and Mia would never be good enough if she couldn’t do that. Not that it wasn’t a surprise, she had a hard time being good enough for anything or anyone. All she needed to do was find that one song to change all that. She had performed in glee so many times before and yet she’d never felt anything for the music. Of course it felt good, like she was being lifted up but that wasn’t enough. She needed a stronger high, so she had to keep searching. There was no telling just how long that would take, the only positive side of this was that it served as a distraction. Mia always welcomed that, just like she welcomed the rain which had yet to fall. But she was counting the seconds waiting for it.
As the silence continued, Mia found herself jumping in fright. A familiar voice had sounded behind her and she hadn’t been expecting anyone to enter the room. She still had some time before the next class started. Placing a hand across her heart, Mia spun around on her heel. “Brittany…it’s you. Gosh, I’m so sorry. I didn’t hear anyone come in.” The beating of heart slowed down, until it reached a normal pace again. She had been more easily spooked lately and Mia hadn’t been able to place why. Maybe all of her anxieties were rolling into one ball. Then she smiled and looked at Brittany, “Thanks…I was just trying to think of something to sing in class. It’s by Bonnie McKee. ..I actually just heard it on the radio.” She really liked Brittany. Mia had heard several people say she was stupid but she didn’t think so. She was a talented fellow cheerio who was an incredibly good dancer. Maybe sometimes she could a little confused, but Brittany never failed to cheer her up. She was an extremely funny person.
Mia laughed and nodded her head, “I probably did, it’s been a stressful day. But don’t worry about it. I could really use the company. Better than hanging out alone in a classroom right?” On the inside she was secretly wondering just how much of the songs she’d heard. Mia always felt embarrassed when someone else listened her, except on some occasions when it happened to be a duet. But even then she could find herself struggling with her own self-doubt, It wasn’t as though she liked feeling that way. Even Brittany could sing and not care about everyone else in glee club. So why was she the only one with this problem? Nobody was judging her in that class, and over time they had all become her friends in one way or another. But she had a feeling that they could all just leave if they wanted to. Their small makeshift family had been having more drama than usual lately, and Mia didn’t like how things were going. All of the problems needed to float away and take over Vocal Adrenaline’s group. lyrics your bird can sing by the beatles notes Word count: 586 credits this was made by brooke !
